Cal Abrams began his 10-year major-league career with Brooklyn in 1949, and was even buried in his Dodgers uniform in 1997. The items in this lot shine a light on some of the other aspects of his life. Among them, a letter from Jake Pitler to Marcus Abrams mentioning Cal being in the Army and being willing to contact Brooklyn about his talent on the next trip. There's also a 1951 Bowman gum contract and Louisville Slugger letter Acknowledging an agreement to use his signature on their bats. Also included is a Duke Snider-signed "Collecting Baseball" book, 1988 Governors Banquet program with autographs that include Wally Moon and a 1949 press release announcing Abrams joining the Dodgers.
