Lot 660: 1900s Carter's Ink Display
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Beautiful turn of the century 4x4x3" heavy glass advertising inkwell from Carter's Ink Company has the words "Carter's Fountain Pen Fluid" etched on two sides and the company logo etched on the other two. The wood and glass dropper is in excellent condition; the exterior glass is pristine sans a few scuffs on the bottom, and the gold etching that once adorned the lettering has mostly been lost. Carter's Ink Company was founded in 1858 and would quickly rise to prominence as the largest ink manufacturer in the world. It ceased to exist in 1975 when it was purchased by the Dennison Manufacturing Company.
