Shoeless Joe Jackson was an amazing baseball player. Even though he holds the third highest batting average in history at .408, Shoeless Joe can never be considered a Hall of Fame baseball player due to his involvement in the gambling scandal known as the "Black Sox" affair, and his subsequent banishment from Major League Baseball. This image, a 4 x 5” glass negative, shows Jackson in court, at the defense table, standing trial for this heinous crime against baseball. The image is in remarkable shape, with only slight peeling of the negative at the upper left, leaving the rest of the image intact and unsullied. A great find, as well as a historically significant one.
