Lot 1258: 1914 Vancouver Millionaires Stock Certificate Signed By Frank Patrick

An important historical document from the dawn of professional ice hockey. Ornate stock certificate for three shares at $100 each in the Vancouver Arena Company, owners of the Vancouver Millionaires, Stanley Cup winners in 1914-1915. Signed and dated May 15th, 1914 by Frank Patrick (d.1960) who played for the Renfrew and Vancouver Millionaires. Frank has been credited with numerous rules and innovations including the introduction of the blue line. Patrick formed the PCHA in 1911 and constructed the first indoor hockey arena, seating 10,000 at a cost of $300,000, in Vancouver. He owned, managed and coached the Millionaires and played defense on the cup winning squad. Shares made out to Feather Patrick who ran the arena for his nephew. Also signed by family patriarch Joseph Patrick. NRMT with expected folds.
