Lot 1163: St. Louis Cardinals Busch Stadium Final Season Away Jersey Sanders #16
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Reggie Sanders took a major spill in the outfield in game 2 of the Cardinals/Astros National League Championship of 2005. Coming into that game, the exceptional outfielder had been integral to St. Louis’ success up to that point, what with 12 RBI’s in post season and a series-inspiring home run in the first game. He returned in game 4, but the dye may have been caste, and, despite a heroic Pujols’ three-run homer in the 9th of game 5, the Cardinals would lose the series. Pristine gray away jersey shows the Cardinal logo (yellow bat hooked by red “C” in Cardinals name with redbirds balancing on ends) across the chest of the button-down front, with Sander’s red #16 below it. Spreading across the upper back is “Sanders” in individual letters, with a large red #16 below that. Commemorating the end of Busch Stadium is a patch on the left short sleeve, “Busch Stadium, Final Season, 1966 - 2005.” Tail tagging by Majestic Authentic, size 48, with flag tag “2005.” LOA from the Cardinals.
