Description
Garnet "Ace" Bailey put on this Edmonton Oilers jersey for one reason: to help a linemate rookie named Wayne Gretzky get comfortable. Mission accomplished, Ace. Bailey, who died aboard one of the hijacked planes which crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, spent one season (1978-79) with the Oilers toward the end of a playing career that included two Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins. He had 5 goals and 4 assists with the Oilers. The Rawlings/Steichens label is still sewn into the collar, and the Oilers' logo is as slick as ever. Lots of cuts and bruises on the sleeves of the No. 17 poly knit indicate a lot of in-tight battling for the puck. His nameplate was replaced to keep his memory fresh. Now you can do the same.
