Garnet "Ace" Bailey put on this Edmonton Oilers jersey for one reason: to help a linemate rookie named Wayne Gretzky get comfortable. Mission accomplished, Ace. Bailey, who died aboard one of the hijacked planes which crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, spent one season (1978-79) with the Oilers toward the end of a playing career that included two Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins.
