Lot 1413: Robb Nen 1997 Florida Marlins World Championship Lot (5)
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST
This rather eclectic cache of World Series-winning spoils was bestowed upon Rob Nen, the Marlins' closer who saved 35 games en route to the team's first NL East title, then two more against the Braves in the NLCS and another two in the Series triumph against the Indians. Includes: 1) Stunning personal trophy inscribed "World Series Champions, Florida Marlins 1997, Robb Nen #31" on the gold band around the base supporting Marlin and Indian press pins, a metal baseball and crown, and 28 miniature brass flagpoles printed with the name of every team. 2) Marlins cap w/"1997 World Series" patch. Size 7.25. 3) Unopened dark green, gold-wrapped bottle of Schramsberg champagne engraved w/"1997 World Series" and MLB logo on a green & red baseball diamond motif. 4) 8 x 10 signed shot of Nen throwing a pitch. 5) Unopened cellophane wrapped La Fontana cigar inscribed "1997 Florida Marlins World Series Champs" in gold on the wrapping. Not a "Cuban" though we bet plenty of those were fired up around Miami when the last out was made. All items NRMT with the trophy particularly stunning.
