Lot 126: Beatles Signed "Please Please Me" British LP
Super rare album jacket of "Please Please Me" signed by all four Beatles in 1963. The reasons for this item's high value and covetability are manifold. For one thing, "Please Please Me" was the group's first LP release on Parlophone (PMC 1202). For another, the most commonly signed Beatles albums were the only two they released in '63, "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles." Subsequent albums came out after the group had become so big that they were virtually inaccessible, and no longer needed to do the usual promotional activities. Post-1963 signed albums -- especially by all four of them -- are exceedingly rare to the point of impossibility. Indeed, only about a dozen of the band's U.S. albums on Capitol have turned up. Thus, a signed copy of "Please Please Me" is a looking glass back through time to when the "lads" were still on the innocent side, and a good condition copy with sterling signatures is among a Beatles collector's highest priorities. The signatures of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are center-right with Ringo's over some text, while George Harrison's is on the left side. All signatures top notch, in bright blue ballpoint, clear and strong NRMT 10/10s. McCartney also wrote, "To Ganne, thank you and all the best from your friends, the Beatles!" Ganne was a member of a supporting band during the Beatles mini tour of Sweden in October, 1963. The cover is MT and encased beautifully under glass against a black background within a mottled black, gold and silver frame sized to 19 1/2 x 19 1/2". NRMT all around, and an historical gem. Accompanied by LOAs from Frank Caiazzo and Tracks..
