Lot 548: Fenway Park Pay Phone

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $200.00
Winning Bid: $196.65
Price Realized: $235.00
Auction Date:12/19/2004 9:00 PM EST

We wonder how many Red Sox fans cried into this pay phone at Fenway Park after losing games against the hated Yankees, since there's a definite residue of salty discharges on the receiver, not to mention marks from being slammed down. Alas, the phone didn't make it to this year, when the calls would have been happier, as the Verizon phone and metal hood were removed during park renovations. On one side of the hood is graffiti such as "Yankees Suck", "Nomar's Better!!!" and "RIP 2002". Also a sticker reading "Turn it up, Cambridge Soundworks" w/the Sox logo. A most unique item from baseball's boulevard of broken dreams.
