Lot 1049: Lyman Bostock Single Signed Baseball
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Unofficial baseball is home to Lyman Bostock's extremely tough panel signature. An elite hitter on the Minnesota Twins, Bostock was headed for superstar status, but shot dead in the back seat of a car in which he was riding with two ladies, one of whose ex-husbands was the shooter. Bostock had only played 4 seasons in the Major Leagues. Signature and inscription grade "9" out of a possible 10, and read, "To Ken from Lyman Bostock." Ball is also inscribed on the sweet spot, "7/3/77 in Chicago." Lightly shellacked over both inscriptions and signature. Ball is EX.
