Lot 1304: Remedios BBC Cuban Pin
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Quite possibly the earliest known Cuban celluloid baseball pin. This wonder in baseball pin collecting dates from 19th century Cuba from a team known as "Remedios" (translates to "Remedies") and has a great sepia look to it, the design features two crossed bats, a very early catcher's mask, two baseballs and a very early cap. Interestingly, the photographer's name appears above the team name, "Fotographia M. Martinez Otero" although the pin was made by photographing the drawing, then covering the photo under celluloid. Missing the metal backing, otherwise in beautiful NRMT condition. 1.25" in diameter.
