Lot 1705: 1939 Boston Braves Game Worn Centennial Cap

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $1,096.34
Price Realized: $1,310.13
Auction Date:5/31/2002 9:00 PM EST

Single-year style is the greatest Braves cap of all, designed in patriotic red, white and blue to commemorate a century of our national game. Check Marc Okkonen's book, Baseball Uniforms of the 20th Century, and you will see that this could be no other year but 1939, almost universally accepted by historians as the game's most significant season. Headband and attached tagging is gone, but otherwise the cap is in strong condition and displays perfectly. Listen to us when we tell you--this is the last time you'll ever see one of these. Words can't express the rarity.
