Lot 2137: 1870’s Baseball Team Flag
ITEM DESCRIPTION
An important piece, to say the least. The only known 19th century baseball team flag we have ever seen. These were hung at the ballparks of the era to be flown while this team was playing. As far as we know this is the only one to have survived. Beautifully framed to 26x42”, the flag itself is 19x34”. Flag is black silk and is all-hand embroidered, and masterfully done. Some fraying to one edge and slight fraying to baseball logo. EX. Believed to be a Cincinatti-area team based on where it was discovered.
