The Babe Ruth of auto racing, Barney Oldfield was a legendary racer and pioneer of the sport. The first man to drive a car at 60 miles per hour on an oval, his accomplishments led to the expression, "Who do you think you are? Barney Oldfield?" Few if any Oldfield trophies ever reach the market. This is one of those rare opportunities. Important silver plate trophy by Reed & Barton won by driver extraordinaire Barney Oldfield. Trophy is engraved as follows: Milwaukee Automobile Derby A.A.A July 27 1907...Huseby Trophy... Three Mile Novelty Race For Touring Cars Carrying Four Passengers Won By Jonas Auto Co. Barney Oldfield Driver, Peerless 4-CYL-30 H.P, Time 6:10." Stands 8 1/2" tall. In marvelous condition with uncleaned original patina. Bottom is marked: Mftd & plated by Reed & Barton 314."
