Lot 489: 1962 Hank Aaron Milwaukee Braves Game Worn Uniform

Auction Date:6/15/2012 9:00 PM EST
The 1962 season was an outstanding one for "Hammerin'" Hank Arron in a legendary career. He batted .323 for the season and his 45 homers and 128 RBI were his second-best single-season totals in each category. This is the best Hank Aaron uniform that we have ever handled and rates as one of the best three in the hobby. It sports the very rare and desirable "Tomahawk" style on the front, is 100% original and has no restoration whatsoever. This home jersey has "Braves" in script across the front in red on black felt, "44" on the front and the back in the same red-on-black felt, with a zipper-down front and screaming brave patch on the left sleeve. The tagging on the front tail is Wilson size 44 with "H Aaron-62" strip tag below. The felt on the top of the strip tag has pulled away from the thread, though this is a normal occurrence as a result of use and washing. The only flaw, if you can call it a flaw, is that the bottom side of one of the 4's on the front is loose from the thread in a two-inch portion. Jersey shows nice use yet it is in wonderful condition. Signed on the front in 8/10 black Sharpie. Matching pants also show nice use, Wilson size 34 tagging in the waist along with "H Aaron Set -1962" strip tag. MEARS LOA, with photographic documentation of the worn jersey. This is as good as it gets!
