Lot 555: 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Signed Baseballs and Bat (3)
1955 was the year Brooklyn finally enjoyed a World Series championship as the beloved Dodgers knocked off the archrival Yankees in the Fall Classic, setting off a massive, borough-wide celebration. Here are a couple of top-tier collectibles commemorating that special season. Two red-and-blue stitched balls with the Brooklyn "B" and year "1955" painted on them feature a total of 21 signatures (11 on one, 10 on the other), including Pee Wee Reese, Carl Erskine, Don Newcombe, Duke Snider, Roger Craig, John Podres, Billy Loes, George Shuba and Clem Labine. The bat is an Adirondack model with nine signatures, including Reese, Snider, Labine, Podres, Erskine, Newcombe and Craig. The Items are NRMT while signatures average 7-8/10.
