One of the enduring images from the controversial Vietnam War depicts panic-stricken children racing down Route 1 near Ang Bang, about 25 miles northwest of Saigon after a misplaced napalm strike in June of 1972. Photographer Nick Ut won a Pulitzer Prize for the 8x10" wire photo that centers upon a young Vietnamese girl who ripped off burning clothing while fleeing in sheer terror. Includes AP notes.
