Roger Mayweather earned a title shot on January 19, 1983 against WBA super featherweight (130 lb) champion Samuel Serrano. Serrano entered the bout with a record of 49-3-1 and had lost only once since first winning the title in 1976. Mayweather led on all three judges' scorecards before he beat Serrano by TKO in round 8. Offered here is the WBA championship belt given to Roger Mayweather for winning this bout. The belt has a Philip Valentino buckle and is black leather on a red felt sash. It has three plates with the WBA center plate. The left plate is inscribed by Mayweather in black marker, "My First World Championship Belt."
