More than a century ago, On July 4, 1910 in Reno, Nevada, Heavyweight Champion Jack Johnson fought former champion James J. Jeffries in a historic bout whose result changed the landscape of American sports. Johnson - the first black man ever allowed to fight for the heavyweight title - dominated the fight and stopped Jeffries in the 14th round. Offered here is a post-fight souvenir pendant commemorating the celebrated event. It was issued by the Mirror of Life, and the name appears in blue enamel on the front. The front is further inscribed: "Memento of Johnson/Jeffries Contest July 4, 1910" with illustrations of both fighters. The back side is inscribed: "Johnson Won In 14 Rounds 2 MTS. 27 SECs." Measures 1.75x1.25" and is in EX+ condition.
