ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||||
Posthumously awarded to one-time Negro League star James Gilliam, this small-sized ring was presented to his wife in his honor. These commemorative rings were given to retired Dodgers players. The silver ring features a blue stone on the top and is stamped "SS" inside. One panel has the Dodgers logo, Gilliam's name and #19, while a Dodger Stadium logo distinguishes the other. It is in NRMT condition, size 5 and comes with an LOA signed by his wife. Gilliam succeeded Jackie Robinson as Dodgers second baseman and filled the legend's shoes admirably with a .277 batting average, 125 runs scored, 21 stolen bases and the Rookie of the Year Award.
