Lot 390: 1956 Don Larsen Perfect Game Full Ticket
There have only been 20 perfect games in the long, rich history of baseball, and only ONE in the postseason. Don Larsen's gem made headlines during the 1956 World Series as it was the crowning jewel in the Yankees' triumph over the archrival Brooklyn Dodgers. This full, unused ticket has "VOID" printed on it and was a proof ticket but identical to those issued for the game (but for the "VOID" and absence of seat numbers). It is encapsulated, graded PSA 6 and in EX-MT condition. Larsen's perfecto came during Game 5 of the Fall Classic on October 8, 1956 before 64,219 electrified fans in the Bronx. It took the San Diego native just 97 pitches and just over two hours to retire the 27 batters to face him, including pinch-hitter Dale Mitchell, who whiffed for the final out, prompting catcher Yogi Berra to pump his fist, leap up and jump into Larsen's arms.
