Lot 773: Bob Wills 1940s Handwritten Song Lyric Signed
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Bob Wills - the world-renowned King of Western Swing - hand-drafted and signed these lyrics to his #5 country hit "You Don't Care What Happens To Me" in 1942, three years before its release. The yellowed loose-leaf page has some creasing and faded red stains but is in Wills' authentic penmanship. The song was composed during World War II and given to a fellow soldier at Fort Sill, Texas as an act of friendship. Wills had 26 chart singles over his career, 23 of which reached the Top 10 and six of those going all the way to #1.
