The rematch between the U.S.A's Joe Louis and Germany's Max Schmeling was one of the most famous matches in boxing history. Fought at the height of Nazi reign in June of 1938 at Yankee Stadium, the fight saw Louis trounce Schmeling in two minutes and four seconds. This photo depicts a milder side of the two combatants, 42 years after the famous bout. Taken at a dinner in October of 1960, Louis and Shmeling became friends until Louis' death in 1981.
