That's the "Spirit" - This 9x7 wire photo shows Charles Lindbergh in front of his plane "The Spirit of St. Louis," before taking off on the history-making first solo flight across the Atlantic in May of 1927. The attached press release is from August 16, 1955, when Lindbergh came to watch filming of the movie "The Spirit of St. Louis," starring James Stewart as Lindbergh.
