Written to Mr. E. A. Deeds at the American Legion in Dayton, Ohio on August 12, 1922, this letter, bearing the signature of Theodore Roosevelt, is truly a piece of American history. "My dear Comrade Deeds: There is nothing I would rather do than be with all of you in Ohio for the convention. Unfortunately, however, it just isn't on the cards. The Secretary of the Navy is now absent on a very important trip to the Orient. He won't be back until the 15th of September or later. During his absence, it is impossible for me to get away from Washington. Like all good members of the American Legion, I have got to stick on my job and try to take the objectives that are assigned to me before taking on anything new. With best wishes, Theodore Roosevelt." The letter has two binder holes at the top and shows some toning at the bottom of the page. Teddy's signature in black fountain ink is 7.5/10.
