Lou Gehrig smashed this ball out of the park in St. Petersburg, Florida during an exhibition game prior to the 1929 season. The consignor's father retrieved the ball, which is toned and features red and black stitching, as well as game use. As the story proceeds, when he brought it to the dugout and asked the nearest player to sign it, Tony Lazzari refused and swore at the young boy. Upon witnessing this, Babe Ruth took the ball, signed it on the sweet spot (authenticated) and Lou Gehrig, John Grabowski, Dusty Rhodes, and a few other Yankees followed suit. Ruth reportedly grabbed Lazzari by the front of his jersey and ordered him to sign the ball, and he complied. The signatures are in black fountain ink and average 5/10.
