Lot 1161: 1830 President Andrew Jackson Signed Land Grant
Among his many duties prior to the Civil War, the president of the United States would often have to sign routine documents, such as land grants. In 1830, Andrew Jackson signed this document, which was one of about 10,000 he authorized during a three-year stretch before Congress passed a law in March 1833 to relieve this burden, authorizing the President to appoint a special secretary to sign land patents. This framed and matted document measures roughly 15.5" x 9.5" and has folds. The president's signature rates 7/10 while the overall condition is GD.
