Lot 466: Circa 1930 Rube Walberg Philadelphia Athletics Game Worn Cap
ITEM DESCRIPTION
This classic Philadelphia A's cap is all-original and comes from the collection of pitcher George "Rube" Walberg. It is in nice condition but shows signs of use. The leather headband inside has the Spalding logo stamped on it. This cap also comes with a signed card from the lefty, featuring stats from three of his best seasons on the back. Walberg pitched 15 seasons in the major leagues, including 11 with the Athletics (1923-33), whom he guided to five World Series appearances. Interestingly, Walberg is the pitcher who allowed the most home runs ever to the legendary Babe Ruth (17).
