This cap was obtained directly from Charlie Gehringer during Spring Training of 1938. It is all original with a leather headband inside, and stamped with the Spalding logo. It shows nice use but yet in great condition. This cap was obtained during the 1938 baseball Spring Training season in Florida by Herbert K. Pringle, who then gifted it to his nephew, John K. Pringle. This item includes a copy of a 1938 handwritten letter from Mr. Pringle to John detailing the cap and a 1992 copy of a letter from John discussing the cap's history and origin.
