Lot 335: Three 1890's Brooklyn Baseball Club Scorebooks
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Long before they evolved into the Brooklyn Dodgers and played at a yet-to-be-constructed Ebbets field, the Brooklyn Baseball Club (otherwise known as the Bridegrooms) ruled the roost in New York City's largest borough. These two scorecards from 1890 take us back to Major League Baseball's infancy, complete with player illustrations, 19th Century advertisements and scoring in pencil (games are vs. Boston and Philadelphia, respectively). The 1894 card - more a fold-out rather than a multi-page publication - details scoring for a game vs. Washington. Overall condition is G-VG, with some loose pages and yellowing.
