Lot 659: Orchid Handicap Trophy

This trophy was awarded to the winner of the 1987 Orchid Handicap, Anka Germania. The Orchid Handicap is an American thoroughbred race run annually at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Each side of the pyramid trophy is adorned with etched inscriptions, the first describing the owner as Glencrest Farm and Fernwood Stable, trainer T.J. Skiffington and jockey Craig Perret, the second side proclaims the winner Anka Germania on April 18th, 1987, and the third side is a black-on-gold lettering of "Orchid Handicap." The trophy top is adorned with a metal horse atop a silvery metal orchid. Note that the name of the track is misspelled as "Gulfstrream". The trophy stands 10".
