Lot 1301: JFK and Jackie O Signed Photograph
ITEM DESCRIPTION
|
||||||||||||||
UPDATE: Parts of the inscription, starting with the end of the fifth word and proceeding through the end/signature, show evidence of the President’s original penstrokes having been traced over and darkened by another instrument.
This is a fantastic oversize Karsh color photographic print of JFK and Jackie Kennedy inscribed by the President to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Joseph Kingsbury-Smith. "For Joe Smith - with esteem and warm regards - John F. Kennedy" is written at the bottom of the piece in what looks to be fountain pen and/or ball point ink - the ink seems to change in the middle of the word "esteem."
The lower right-hand corner features a Karsh of Ottawa copyright and centered below the image reads "The President and Mrs. John Fitzgerald Kennedy." The picture is 13.5x17.5" and the total piece is 14.5x20.5".
