Auction Date:7/9/2010 9:00 PM EST

Eighteen pieces, all from the archives of the San Francisco Examiner newspaper. Most are signed photos, and some of the highlights include early signed photo of circus mogul John Robinson; many images of actors and actresses; the famed Wild West man John M. Burke; a signed photo of Catherine Breshkovsky, the grandmother of the Russian Revolution (d. 1934); and an Elbert Hubbard signed watercolor used in a 1915 criticism article. (The drawing is artist-signed by what appears to read "T. Limeider" (?). Hubbard died during the sinking of the Lusitania.) Finally, there are two signed cabinet photos relating to the Great Riot of Cincinnati (1884). One is of Joseph Palmer, the “negro slayer” who was hanged; the other is of Morton C. Hawkins (corner clip), the “former sheriff” during the riots. Overall EX+.
