Lot 986: 1936 and 1952 Olympic Collection Including Olympic Games Clock
ITEM DESCRIPTION
This collection of items includes a 1936 Berlin Olympic Games clock that, on the back, displays the Olympic rings and the swastika. It was made by Glashutte in Germany (the birthplace of the German watchmaking industry) and is palm-sized, measuring approximately 2 1/2" long by 2" high and about 1" in width. The works are complete and operational. The little guy on the left of the clock seems to be enjoying a drink from a jug. The second item is a 1936 German postcard which shows a zeppelin sporting, again, the Olympic rings on the bottom and the swastikas on the ends. The last item is a "1952 United States Olympic Book", hardcover in a shimmery golden. It summarizes the Olympics in Helsinki, Oslo, and the first Pan American games. There are 451 pages, total, and filled with black and white photos of Olympians and statistics.
