The Boston Red Sox finally broke the Curse of the Bambino in 2004 when they won the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals This Red Sox home jersey was worn by pitcher Tim Wakefield in the World Series, and has been signed and inscribed by Wakefield on the back: "World Series Game Used 04 WS Champs Tim Wakefield 49." The button-front jersey has Red Sox on the front, and Wakefield's number 49 on the back. There is a Russell Athletic tag sewn on the front left tail above a size 48/fabric content hang tag. A World Series 04 patch graces the right sleeve, and the jersey shows nice use. Also included is a program/catalog from the Tim Wakefield Celebrity Golf Classic Dinner and Sports Memorabilia Auction held on January 28-29, 2005 in Melbourne, Florida. There are a number of photos of Wakefield in the program, including one separate 8 x 10" photo of him holding this particular jersey (which was sold in that auction) before he signed and inscribed it.
