On April 27, 1947, the New York Yankees honored the greatest baseball player in the history of the game by holding Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium. During the ceremonies, the Babe went to the microphone and said his goodbyes for the last time. This Official American League (Harridge) baseball dates from that auspicious event and features Babe Ruth's signature right on the sweet spot. Others among the 19 who signed the ball are Bob Shawkey, Pat Collins, Bump Hadley, Jake Powell, Sam Jones, Joe Sewell, Joe Bush, and Hinkey Haines. The ball has been shellacked. Babe Ruth's signature grades a solid 9/10; the other signatures are an overall 7-8 out of 10. This is a tough ball to find, but well worth the effort.
