Amazing piece was recently dissevered in Italy. Belonged to a member of the Roman Catholic clergy that wanted protection but wanted to keep it on the down low due to his profession. Elegant tome is leather bound copy of “Lexicon Manuale” with 1828 copyright and in original condition. When you open the bible it reveals a flintlock pistol of this same early 18th century era. The pages have been hollowed out and the opening has been covered in green cloth. The top textblock of the book has an opening for the muzzle of the gun delivering the bullet without obstruction. Silver braces keep the bible closed for safety of the user and the silver metal trigger penetrates from the back cover. Beautifully detailed silver plate on front cover distracts this piece from its true use as well. Wonderful quality excellent condition and a great piece with provenance. Came from a respected religious artifacts dealer in Italy. 9x6x2.5”. EX.
