Crystal clear black and white photo framed to 28 x 34" of Pope Pius XII from 1939, the year he became Pope and served for a total of 29 years as Pope, who was vehemently against communism. Inscription under photo is handwritten in black fountain pen ink and says: "To Our beloved son Dennis Cardinal Dougherty, Archbishop of Philadelphia, with particular affection We impart, in these first days of Our Pontificate, Our Apostolic Benediction. From the Vatican, March 10, 1939 Pius PP. XII." Inscription is graded a 9/10. Stamp on bottom right says, "Alinari Firenze."
