Heisman Trophy winner Ernie Davis was a multi-sport athlete, as evidenced by this high school varsity basketball letter and accompanying certificate awarded to Davis by the Elmira Free Academy for the 1955-56 high school basketball season. The letter "E" is purple with a white felt backing and measures approximately 7 X 8". The certificate, issued to Ernest Davis, is a color photocopy of the original signed by the school principal, superintendent of schools, basketball coach and athletic director.
