Long before The Woodstock Festival promoter Michael Lang's first festival was The Miami Pop Festival in May of 1968. The Jimi Hendrix Experience headlined the festival (and the poster) and was scheduled to play both days but the second day was rained out. Among the other acts performing was Frank Zappa who jammed with Hendrix later that night at The Castaways hotel bar. The strat that Jimi burned at this festival was later given to Zappa.
