||||||||||||
Willie O'Ree broke the NHL color barrier in 1958 when he donned the uniform of the Boston Bruins. He would play two games with Boston in 1958 and another 43 during the 1960-61 season. A long career would follow, mostly spent in the WHL with the San Diego Gulls and LA Blades. Well-worn Sixties-vintage customized CCM Tackaberry skates with #20 marked on bottoms, each signed by Willie. Northland stick stamped O'REE and signed "Best Regards Willie O'Ree, San Diego Gulls 1967-74". Taped in white over black on knob. Good use. Included is an autographed vintage file photo of Willie in a Bruins uniform dated Feb. 24, 1958.
