Lot 1082: 1972 Munich Summer Olympics Torch
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
The event was somewhat soured by the violence that occurred at the Israeli athletes' quarters, but the flame of goodwill, that was carried along its route by this fantastic torch, still burned bright. Note: the path that this torch traveled was identical to the one used for the 1936 Berlin Games. "Munich 1972 Games of the XX Olympiad" engraved (in German) on handle. One of the largest Olympic torches. Manufactured by Krup. Also here is the "Munchen 1972" tank top worn by the runner who carried this torch.
