Lot 618: 1948 Mickey Mantle's High School Journalism Workbook
ITEM DESCRIPTION

What kind of student was the Mick back in his teenage years? Well, he probably made a better ballplayer than a scholar, but research it yourself. A year's worth of his work is here, with page after page of pencil-written assignments in the hand of the future Yankee superhero. Certainly one of the most extensive samples of Mantle's writing ever offered to the collecting public. Best is the opening page, which has Mickey writing his full name, "Mick Chas. Mantle" three times, then writing "Mantle" again with the letter "l" in the shape of a baseball bat. Condition is very strong, made all the better by its leather binding at the hands of its former owner, Barry Halper. It doesn't get much better than this.
