The only meeting ever between Hall of Famers Cobb and Wagner, who are each pictured with their Tigers and Pirates respectively in team photos at the bottom of this fine piece. Above we have three photos that have been melded into one to create a broad vista picturing the action at Forbes Field, with Ty Cobb standing at the plate and Sam "Wahoo" Crawford on deck. Text at top reads, "Opening Game World's Championship Series, Forbes Field October 8th, Supplement to the Index - Pittsburgh's Illustrated Weekly, October 16th, 1909." Original folds from the printing are still apparent, and there are light tape stains at a few of them, but none of this is bothersome and the overall look is just terrific. An impressive piece to be sure.
