We believe that this small wood and brass plaque was presented to the Mick by the Yankees themselves (logic would certainly suggest this), though it may have been presented by the grounds crew or some other lesser body. One thing is certain however-Mantle received this on the field at Yankee Stadium on that famous day shortly before he hung up the spikes forever. Engraving reads, "Presented to Mickey Mantle for His Service as a Yankee, August 4th, 1968." An important piece from the Yankee legend's own trophy room.
