On July 2, 1921 at Boyles Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey World Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey successfully defended his title against the great Frenchman Georges Carpentier. Carpentier was game, but was stopped in the 4th round by the bigger Dempsey. This was the first million dollar gate in boxing history. Offered here is a very rare souvenir from the fight. This is an actual Official Ticket Taker pin and ribbon which would have been worn by an official at the actual event. Printed on the blue ribbon is, DEMPSEY vs CARPENTIER JERSEY CITY JULY 2, 1921 TICKET TAKER TEX RICKARD PROMOTER, The number 15 at the center would signify the particular ticket taker and the pin is at the top behind the OFFICIAL stamp on the outer side. Slight fraying to the ribbon. Pin and ribbon are intact. Color is bold. A very seldom seen item used at the actual event. 2 ½” x 7 ¼”
