The message reads, "Best Wishes Mickey Mantle." This special piece, never seen before, was signed by Mantle, the other twin of the "power hitters." Mantle signed Roger Maris' funeral service program at St. Mary's Cathedral in 1985, and it is unbelievable that he was able to sign this considering how much Mantle loved Maris. Maris, who had battled lymphatic cancer, is praised on the back of this program for hitting his 61st homer against Tracy Stallard in the fourth inning of the Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium. There is a black and white photo of Maris in mid-swing on the back. The signature is a 9/10, written clearly in black ball-point pen over the beige program. His home run race may be over, but he will forever be remembered a cherished legend.
