Outfielder "Wahoo" Sam Crawford was one of the greatest hitters of the dead ball era of the early 1900s. Born in Wahoo, Nebraska (hence the nickname), he began his major league career with the Cincinnati Reds, but played from 1903-1917 with the Detroit Tigers. Crawford was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee in 1957. This high-end Hamilton pocket watch is 14K gold and was presented to Crawford by his Flint, Michigan fans during his Tigers playing days. The watch is 2" in diameter and the back is engraved "To Samuel E. Crawford from Flint Friends." There is a small chip in the enamel on the face at the 2 o'clock position; otherwise, the watch is in EX running condition.
