This original International News Service photograph shows a young George Herman Ruth in a Boston uniform during his earliest days as an ace Red Sox pitcher, warming up to pitch the first game of the 1918 World Series against the Chicago Cubs (Cubs World Series home games were played at Comiskey Park because its seating capacity was greater than that of Weeghman Park). The photo measures 6.5 x 8.5" and has been professionally restored on the back, where remnants of a large crease are evident. Several scratches and small creases on the front do not detract from the overall fine image of Ruth.
