These two 4.5x6 pocket booklets, dating to the late nineteenth century, detail the early rules of American football. The first features a printed cover, labeled "FOOT-BALL RULES AND REFEREE'S BOOK," while the second is from two years later and features red leather binding with "Frank D. Beattys" and "Compliments of A.G. Spalding & Bros." on the cover in gold lettering. Both intact, with lovely printing.
